Aspire began supporting people with a learning disability in Herefordshire in 1987
We have supported more people over the years and now support more than 300 people in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire. We also have over 300 staff!
Aspire has gone through some difficult times, mainly to do with funding. Funding in the social care sector is under extreme pressure and local authorities and health are making cuts wherever they can. We have worked hard and pulled together, made effective partnerships and are strong and successful.
We work closely with our funders and other stakeholders and aim always to have effective communication between us.
In 2015 we sought a potential partner because we wanted to support more people and needed to expand our horizons. After a very careful year of research, meeting and matching we chose to join the Thera group of companies.
The Thera group consists of local not-for-profit companies supporting local people and is led by a charity.
Thera and Aspire have a similar culture and values and share a vision that includes that people with a learning disability can be leaders in society.
The Thera website has a lot of interesting information about our culture and approach and some great videos!
