Aspire can support you through the process of:
- Finding a home where you choose
- Buying or renting a home (privately or through a Registered Social Landlord)
- Finding suitable housemates
- Adapting your home so it meets all of your needs
- Liaising with funding bodies about aids and adaptations, including personal and assistive technology
- Advice with benefits, tenancies and purchase of a home
We work with our colleagues in Forward Housing to find homes for people in the community. Forward Housing is a charity that provides bespoke housing for people with a learning disability, including if you have complex needs or physical disability.
Forward Housing is a charity that was set up 1999. Since then, they have acquired and adapted more than 50 houses that are now sustainable homes for nearly 100 people with a learning disability.
The Thera Group has a Bond that will fund the purchase or new build of homes for people who have a learning disability, including if you have complex needs or physical disability.
Choosing who you live with
It is really important that you get on with the people you will live with. If you and some friends decide you want to live together, we will work with you and your circle of support to find you a suitable house. If you want to live in a shared house but don’t have anyone in mind to share with, we will work with you to find suitable people to share your house.
When helping people to find someone to live with we work very closely with other important stakeholders including commissioners and funders.
Get in touch with us for more information or to arrange a visit. Our New Support Adviser will explain how the process of find a home or others to live with works. She will also tell you about our active support and positive behavioural support approach, about our culture and our commitment to empowering people to be as independent as possible. She will discuss with you how you like and wish to be supported and about your aspirations for your future.
People are at the heart of everything we do
